1. so far in the book i understood what the characters in the story felt. When Philip was excluded from track because he was failing English class, i could really feel his pain and disappointment because he really wanted to try out. I've been through allot of experiences involving getting excluded from sports because of certain reasons ( not grades).
2.There are many characters in the story that are very interesting but the character i like the most is Phillip. i like Phillip because he is a very jockish outgoing person. Phillip thinks he is very clever, and because of that he is failing school. So far in the story i learned that Phillip and Ms.Narwin do not get along at all.
3. why do you think track is so important to Phillip?
3. I think that track is really important to Phillip because it the only time in his life where he can just forget about everything and not fail.

1: I agree that it would be really awful to try really hard for something just to find out after doing all that work youre not allowed to do it in the first place.
2: Philip gets a little too carried away with girls and being the class clown, so it distracts him from his work and he is failing in school.
3: I think philip uses track as a way to escape his worries and relax, because its something he's good at and likes to do. i feel the same way about some of the sports i play.
1. I agree, that probably sucks to not be able to do something you really want to do. I can understand how he feels there.
2. Yeah, i think he gets a little to cocky about himself. I don't think he really tries to succeed in class either.
3. I think that Philip likes track so much because he's good at it and he really enjoys running.
